Canada Geese

Canada Geese – oh so common in every local pond around the city.  Although this post is dated late May, these photos were taken early in the month.  There are already some newly hatched goslings in our local pond and I will wander down there on the next sunny evening to see them.  Mother goose was leading her brood across a very busy street a few days ago but all the traffic stopped for them to pass safely.

Enjoy!

Wood Ducks

These beautiful Wood Ducks are especially so during mating season when the males head dress is brightly coloured.  I have found them to be very flighty but occasionally I manage to get close enough to get a few photos.

American Coot – Urban Ponds

This pair of American Coots were busy preening each other one morning at our local pond.  A couple of things I noticed about these birds were, their legs appear more “stilted” than a duck, their feet more claw-like and their legs were more green than yellow.

Enjoy!
