Hoar Frost
// February 24th, 2010 // Scenic, Winter
Welcome back to my website & thanks for visiting !If you are “lucky” enough to live in an area with a winter climate you have likely seen the awesome snow white blanket of hoar frost. It usually forms during the night when objects become colder than surrounding air. We have awoken to a number of hoar frost mornings this winter – so beautiful. The loosely deposited white ice crystals will form and can turn the forests and cities into a winter wonderland with the tiny ice crystal formations coating everything outside. The hoar frost seldom lasts more than a few hours and the crystals flake off as the day goes on. It is an awesome sight on winter days. Hoar frost is sometimes referred to as radiation frost.

Enjoy!
